Applications for the Royal Society Africa Prize for outstanding Scientific Innovations in the UK in 2023 are currently open.
This year, the Society is encouraging nominations of joint collaborations, groups, or teams for almost all its medals. This is to better represent how contemporary science is undertaken. In addition, the Society is extremely keen to broaden the diversity of those nominated for its awards, so please consider all contacts and colleagues.
You do not have to be a Fellow of the Royal Society to nominate or be nominated for any of the Royal Society medals and awards.
Worth of Award
The Prize will make a grant of £15,000, including VAT where applicable, to the Recipient for a research project and £2,000 as a personal prize for the Recipient.
Eligibility
The
- Royal Society Africa Prize will be made to an individual (hereafter referred to the Recipient). This is for an outstanding, innovative contribution to the sciences which contributes significantly to capacity building in Africa.
- Prize is intended for researchers at a senior stage of their research career with the potential to build a research project to follow on from the prize.
- Research must be based in Africa.
- Project and nominee should be linked with an African centre of excellence. This would normally be a University, or equivalent research centre.
Nominations can be made by senior academics and members of the national academies of science.
