Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen, is offering some fully funded PhD scholarships in Denmark.
Program details
A PhD program at the Department of Chemistry is 3 (normally) or 4 years and includes:
• Research which will be your primary occupation
• Teaching, which is an essential part of PhD training (800 hours over the entire PhD)
• Courses, 30 ECTS; equivalent to ½ academic year
• Writing and submission of articles and the PhD thesis
• A stay at another research institution, possibly abroad
Selection Criteria
• Academic qualifications relevant to the PhD project
• Academic performance in terms of grades or possibly publications
• Quality of your PhD project proposal
• Relevant work experience, including teaching, dissemination of information and research
• Teaching and language skills (fluency in Danish or English is required)
Worth of Award
• Terms of appointment and payment of salary are made in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
• The starting salary for candidates with an MSc degree will be a minimum of DKK 305.280 per year (April 2014 level) plus pension contribution and the possibility to negotiate wages.
• The scholarships are open to Danish and international applicants.
• Normally, applicants must have obtained an MSc degree in Chemistry (or Diploma or equivalent) but it is also possible to enroll in the 4+4 scheme either with an Honours (4 year) or a 3 year BSc degree and 1 MSc year already completed. This model requires an additional year of study, a midway qualification exam and lower salary for the first two years.
• An assessment committee will be appointed to evaluate the applications. Each applicant will be notified of the composition of the committee and will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns her/him.
• The main criterion for selection is the research potential of the applicant. The final selection of successful candidates will be made by the Head of the Department, based on the recommendations made by the evaluation committee.
• The successful candidate will then be invited to formally apply enroll as a PhD student at the PhD School, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen.

• Applicants are requested to submit their application by filling in Part 1 (only) of the application form that can be downloaded from the KU
• The applicants must also submit a research project proposal (1-2 pages) of the research project they intend to pursue. Please paste this proposal into the form above (at 2.)

• copy of diplomas & list of grades obtained.
