Applications for the USGEAA US Consulate General Lagos Grant Program in 2022 are currently open.
Proposals will be accepted from alumni members located or working in the following states: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo.
The projects to be supported by the small grants will be selected based on the following thematic areas:
- Advance good governance and human rights through programs that promote increased voter turnout and peaceful elections.
- Encourage women’s empowerment and rights through programs focused on entrepreneurship and job creation.
- Empower youth to create initiatives to increase security and stability.
- Bolster educational initiatives in STEM education for public school students.
- Promote awareness, advocacy, or government accountability on countering wildlife trafficking, including on the threat posed by pangolin scale trafficking to security and human health.
- Support inclusion of marginalized groups through sports.
Worth of Award
The program presents a small grant opportunity of $1,000 for 100 alumni members to execute a project of interest within some thematic area.
Eligibility
The following individuals are eligible to apply:
- Applicants must be alumni of a U.S. government-funded exchange program e.g., MWF, YALI RLC, IVLP, Fulbright, KL-YES etc.
- YALI Network members are eligible to apply
- Have been resident within any of the states listed above not earlier than the last ONE year to the date of announcement of this grant opportunity.
- Applications must be submitted by individual exchange alumni. Not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions are not eligible to apply in the name of the organization but can serve as partners for implementing project activities.
- Applicants are only allowed to submit one proposal.
How to Apply
Applicants must submit a full project description, including a detailed narrative that outlines the plan of action, describes the scope of the proposed work, and a time frame including key benchmarks within which the work will be accomplished.
The narrative must be accompanied by a detailed budget that clearly indicates all program costs.
The following documents are required:
- Attachment
- A copy of a valid means of identification (international passport, PVC, Driver’s license, National ID).
- A copy of the Certificate of attendance of any United States-sponsored Exchange Program.
- YALI Network membership card(for YALI Network Members)
- Maximum 1-page CV or resume of the individual applying for the grant.
- Passport photos.
