Copenhagen Business School in Denmark invites applications for the PhD scholarship in the Intellectual History of the Corporation for the 2022/23 academic session.

The position is attached to the EU-funded project DRYADS focusing on Governance, stakeholder engagement, trend research and socio-economic analysis for wildfires prevention, detection and restoration.

A holistic Fire Management platform will optimize and reuse available socio-technical resources in all three main phases of wildfires – Prevention and preparedness, Detection, Restoration – and real-time risk evaluation tools. The platform will integrate state-of-the-art capabilities drawing from areas like AI, UAV, AR, 5G, Earth Observation, Air Quality and Pollution. Eight pilot implementations will be rolled out in a large-scale demonstration programme that covers seven EU countries and Taiwan. Ultimately, the project aims to increase European resilience to disasters and causes of crisis creating a safer environment for its citizens.

The CBS team will be leading the inquiry into the organizational, structural, and sociotechnical factors for the DRYADS Ecosystem Building. CBS will be leading the Work Package 3 (WP3) through which we will (1) involve user representatives from individual, community, first responders, industrial and commercial providers and policy-makers to identify the optimal form of governance and (2) empower behavioural change of citizens, local authorities, businesses and schools through clustering and other social techniques. CBS brings its social research background to provide the insights that can help a largely technical project attend to the softer sides of implementation, and more specifically those that are closer to the citizen (e.g. bottom up / social innovation dimensions that are vital in the project).

The position includes research and project management and the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Participating in all project related meetings, seminars, workshops, etc.
  • Carry out the work required to fulfil the project’s tasks
  • Write and review deliverables
  • Manage and coordinate meetings, tasks and related required activities to fulfil successfully all project requirements.

The project has started in December 2021 and the ideal candidate ideally starts asap.

The Postdoc is a non-tenured position for a 3-year period with research obligation and a potential to extend the contract by one additional year. You will be joining an existing team composed of 5 passionate and dedicated people, engaged in delivering the best work, while also learning and having fun in the process. Due to the various projects’ tasks and responsibilities, the work is dynamic and requires that you are driven and well acquainted with a fast pace work dynamics and enjoy learning new things while also sharing what you know.

Worth of Award

  • Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.

Eligibility

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the candidate is expected to be physically present on a regular basis, however there is flexibility regarding hybrid/remote working. You are expected to also contribute when needed to other projects and tasks run by the team and actively participate in research activities of the Department.
