The Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies, BIGSAS, invites applications for the BIGSAS DAAD Graduate School Scholarship Programme for Female African Scholars in Germany for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The University of Bayreuth is a hub of international and interdisciplinary research. African studies have been a priority at the University of Bayreuth since its foundation in 1975.
BIGSAS builds on
- long-term experience in research on Africa;
- close cooperation with African colleagues;
- in-depth experience in doctoral training since 1984;
- lively academic exchange and international collaboration with partner universities of the Africa-Europe Group for Interdisciplinary Studies, AEGIS;
- a library with more than 186,000 books on Africa, 33,000 titles of audiovisual material, 200 periodicals, 5,000 maps, and a growing number of e-books and e-book collections;
- an open-minded environment that fosters intercultural understanding between individuals and internationalization between institutions.
Worth of Award
In 2022, BIGSAS is awarding two scholarships within the Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP) provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Eligibility
Applicants must have a very good Masters or equivalent degree.
- The last Master’s or equivalent degree must have been obtained within the last six years at the time of nomination by BIGSAS.
- The application must be accompanied by two reports (letters of recommendation) from teaching faculty members at the home universities.
