The Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) at the University of Ghana (UG) invites applications for the RIPS DAAD Masters and PhD Scholarships for International Students for the 2022/23 academic session.
These scholarships are open to students who have successfully completed generally one- or two years MA/MSc./MPH/MFA/MPhil, etc. university degree (for doctoral candidates) with above-average results of Second Class Upper Division or equivalent (for First degree).
Worth of Award
The DAAD scholarship will cover
- tuition,
- stipends, and
- accommodation for one-year Master of Arts (MA) and
- four-year Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students.
Eligibility
DAAD scholarships can only be awarded to applicants who:
- have successfully completed a three/four-year university degree for those
applying to MA (duration of MA is one year) with above-average results of Second Class Upper Division or equivalent. - clearly show motivation and strong commitment.
- have a thorough knowledge of the English language.
- have generally completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at
the time of application. - are nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Saharan African country.
Women and people working in population-related sectors are encouraged to apply.

MA applicants’ required documents:

- One-page motivational statement (Heading: Motivational Statement & your Name)
- TOEFL/IELTS examination grades were not more than two years old at the time of application (if applying as a national or permanent resident of a non-English speaking African country)
PhD applicants required documents:
- Undergraduate Certificate
- Undergraduate Transcript
- One-page motivational statement (Heading: Motivational Statement & your Name)
- Graduate Certificate
- Graduate Transcript
The research proposal must include a
- project title,
- problem statement [500-word limit],
- proposed research objective(s)/question(s) [100-word limit],
- methodology [900-word limit] and
- references (3-page maximum, 1.5 line spacing)
TOEFL/IELTS examination grades should not be more than two years at the time of
application (if applying as a national or permanent resident of a non-English speaking
African country). The exemption to this is if your Master’s dissertation/thesis was written in English).
Deadline: Candidates’ applications for the RIPS DAAD Masters and PhD Scholarships should be submitted to RIPS on or before January 14th, 2022.
