The 2014 Tullow Group Scholarships application from students from Ethiopia, Ghana, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Uruguay, and Suriname is now open. Tullow Scholarship 2014 aims to build capacity in areas where Tullow’s host countries experience significant skills gaps, especially, but not exclusively, around these countries’ oil and gas industries.
The Scheme is part of Tullow’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme (referred to as Social Investment (SI)) which aims to contribute to long-term socio-economic development in countries where we operate.
Worth of Award
The scholarship will cover the following;
- full tuition fees;
- a monthly stipend;
- travel costs;
- warm clothing; and
- baggage allowance
The cost of the package per scholar is in the region of $60,000 per annum.
Eligibility
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria
- Be a citizen and legally resident in participating country (preference will be given to candidates that are ordinarily resident in Tullow’s operational areas and to candidates ordinarily resident in the country of application). For this scholarship, applications are invited from Ugandans
- Must have a minimum of bachelor degree or Licence Professionnelle (second class lower or better) or an HND (second class upper or better);
- Have a track record of success in their field of endeavour including but not limited to work experience in the area linked to their chosen course
- Have not previously studied abroad or received an international graduate scholarship
- Must have a strong personality as well as ambition, entrepreneurial and creative spirit and leadership skills;
- Must demonstrate commitment to return to country and make a contribution to the future development of the country; and
- Must demonstrate a high level of competence in management, strategy and ability to train and develop others.
- Please note that applicants with second class upper and first class bachelor degrees and may be weighted higher for admission purposes.
- Individuals employed by Tullow and or British Council as staff/contractors/3rd party contractors/consultants or their direct dependents are not eligible to apply for a scholarship. Individuals employed by other Oil and Gas companies or companies that have a contract with Tullow are not eligible. - Candidates must demonstrate a strong personality and ambition, and a commitment to return to Uganda and make a contribution to its future development.

How to Apply
- Application: Your application (including anything you add at interview or afterwards) should be accurate, not omit any facts that are relevant and not be misleading. If they find that there are significant errors or omissions in the information you have supplied to us in the course of your application you will not be offered a Scholarship, or you will have your Scholarship withdrawn or terminated.
- Selection: The selection process will be fair. No applicant will have, or should seek or accept, any unfair advantage. No member of the British Council or Tullow Oil PLC will unfairly promote or disadvantage the interests of any applicant. If we find that you have secured an unfair advantage in the selection process we reserve the right not to offer you a Scholarship, or withdraw or terminate your Scholarship.

NOTE: Applicants in Ivory Coast and Mauritania can only apply for Universities in France. Applicants from these countries that seek to study in UK or Ireland will be required to provide evidence of proficiency in English language.
