The University of Leeds invites applications for the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Fluid Dynamics in the UK for the 2022/2023 academic year.
The Centre for Doctoral Training in Fluid Dynamics gives you a combination of bespoke taught modules and inter-disciplinary research training. For this reason, you will be part of a supportive cohort of research students. These are students with different academic backgrounds, all focusing on different aspects of Fluid Dynamics.
During the taught aspects of your course, you will receive a range of tailored seminars, lectures and practical laboratories. These will cover the computational, experimental and analytical aspects of Fluid Dynamics.
In addition, you will have access to a wide range of personal development activities. These include attending and contributing to regular seminar series, workshops, conferences and training events.
And like icing on the cake, your PhD research will be supported by supervisors from at least two different participating schools, This provides you with the opportunity to take part in interdisciplinary study.
Worth of Award
A full standard studentship consists of academic fees paying up to £4,600, together with a maintenance grant of £15,609.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Fluid Dynamics, you need
- A degree equivalent to a UK first-class honours, or a high upper second class, in an engineering, mathematics or science discipline.
- In a similar vein, the minimum English language entry requirement for research postgraduate research study is an IELTS of 6.5 overall.
- This is with at least 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in reading, listening and speaking or equivalent.
Kindly note that the test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid.
- Equally, note that some schools and faculties have a higher requirement.
