NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award for Outstanding Researchers in 2021 (win US $20,000)

The American Association for the Advancement of Science AAAS is currently inviting applications for the NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award in the USA.

The award is presented for outstanding research performed by the applicant as described in a 1,000-word essay.

Worth of Award

It goes without saying that the award comes with juicy packages which include

  • The grand prize of US $15,000,
  • travel and accommodation to the award ceremony, if applicable.
  • Additionally, the grand prize winner is invited to present a proposal for funding to the NOMIS board. S/he will equally receive a 5-year digital subscription to Science, and have their winning essay published in Science, in print and online.

In a similar vein,

  • Runner(s) Up will be awarded a cash prize of US$5,000,
  • travel and accommodation to the award ceremony, if applicable.
  • Yet again, the runner(s) up will receive a 5 year digital subscription to Science, and have their winning essay published in Science online.

Eligibility  

The award will be granted annually to one young scientist based on work done in the past 3 years.

In view of this, entrants must be younger than thirty-five (35) years of age and must hold an M.D., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. at the time of entry.

How to Apply

As you prepare to sending in your applications for the NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award, ensure that you submit the following items:

  • A completed Entry Form.
  • An essay that describes your research at the intersection of the life and social sciences, showing interdisciplinary work. The essay must not exceed 1,000 words in length. Expectedly, you must have done, directed or performed all of the work in the last three years.
  • A one-page letter of recommendation from your postdoctoral adviser, supervisor, or other senior colleague who is familiar with your work.
  • A Curriculum Vitae that includes the following:
    1. Full citations of papers that you have published on the research described in the essay.
    2. Academic and professional awards and honors that you have received; and
    3. Relevant professional experience.
  • Copies of two of the papers that are most relevant to your essay.

It is very important to note that the Entry Form and additional submission materials must be submitted electronically through the prize management system.

Deadline: The application period for the 2021 award closes on May 15, 2021.
