Good news! If you want to apply for a PhD scholarship to study in the UK but have yet to do so, it is not too late. Some fully-funded and a few full-tuition international scholarships are still open for application for the 2014-2015 academic session starting in September 2014. All of them are open to African students as well as other international students to study in the UK. Below are some of the top scholarships still open for application.
59 Full LSE PhD Scholarships for International/EU/UK Students 2014
The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is accepting applications for its 2014-2015 MRes/MPhil/PhD scholarships open to international and UK/EU students undertaking full time research in any LSE discipline, with annual renewal subject to satisfactory academic performance at the School. The LSE Scholarships aim to fully fund 59 new PhD students renewable for up to four years. The scholarships cover fees and living expenses of £18,000 each year for four years.

2014-2015 UCL Cross-disciplinary International PhD Scholarship
The PhD scholarship in UK target students from any country wishing to spend an additional year of their MPhil/PhD or EngD in another UCL department acquiring research skills and knowledge from a different discipline, which can be applied in their normal area of research. The scholarships consist of fees equivalent to the applicable graduate rate (UK/EU or overseas) plus a maintenance stipend of £15,726 (2013/14)

2014–2015 Clarendon Scholarship at University of Oxford
The prestigious Clarendon Scholarship for graduate students at the University of Oxford, UK, for 2014 – 2015 session is now open. All applicants for graduate study (master’s, MPhil and PhD) at the University are eligible. Clarendon scholars come from all continents in the world: from the USA to Australia, Venezuela to Vietnam and from Norway to Nigeria. Over 100 scholarships are awarded each year. Clarendon Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full and a generous grant for living expenses.

2014-2015 Warwick Chancellor’s International PhD Scholarships
University of Warwick Chancellor’s International Scholarships are allocated annually via a combined postgraduate research scholarship competition and are open to students of any nationality and to any discipline offered at Warwick. The scholarship covers the full payment of overseas tuition fees (worth up to £17,130 at 13/14 rates) and a maintenance stipend in line with RCUK rates (provisional £13,863* for full time award holders in 2014-15

Oxford International DPhil Scholarship in Population Health 2014-2015
The University of Oxford is now accepting applications for fully-funded doctoral scholarships at the Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford, UK . The Department is responsible for teaching Epidemiology and Population Health to postgraduates specializing in these fields. Competitive funded studentships to cover fees and living expenses will be available for DPhil students in Population Health based in the Nuffield Department of Population Health.

2014 UCL Research Scholarships for International Students
The 2014-15 UCL Graduate Research Scholarships targets international students to enable them to undertake research at University College London. Up to 17 UCL Graduate Research Scholarships (GRS) are available annually to prospective and current UCL research students from any country. The scholarships consist of fees equivalent to the standard postgraduate UK/EU rate (2013/14: £4,400) plus a maintenance stipend (2013/14: £15,726) for full-time study (benefits are calculated ‘pro rata’ for part-time students). The scholarship also includes additional research costs at a level up to £1,000 per year for the stated duration of the programme.

2014/15 Harry Worthington International PhD Scholarships
The 2014-2015 Harry Worthington PhD Scholarships at the University of Sheffield in the UK is available to UK/EU and international applicants wishing to undertake doctoral study in any faculty of the University. A Harry Worthington Scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees (UK, EU or Overseas) and provides an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend at the standard UK Research rate, which for 2013-14 was £13,726.

The University of Sheffield offers PhD scholarships to applicants who are from UK, EU or are international applicants for the 2014-2015 academic session. The scholarship is offered to students of all nationality and are awarded on a competitive base. Scholarships could include (UK/EU or Overseas) and a full maintenance stipend at the RCUK rate (full-time rate was £13,726 for 2013-14) and fees (UK/EU or Overseas) and a half maintenance stipend (full-time rate £6,863 for 2013-14).

The University of Hull offers over 20 UK/EU PhD Scholarships or International PhD Fee Bursaries in some academic areas for the 2014-2015 academic session starting in September 2014. Applications are sought from suitably-qualified students who wish to pursue research leading to a PhD under the supervision of leading researchers. Each full-time UK/EU PhD Scholarship will include fees at the ‘home/EU’ student rate and maintenance (£13,726 in 2014/15), subject to final confirmation) for three years, depending on satisfactory progress. The International PhD Fee bursaries will cover full tuition fees for full-time overseas students for three years, depending on satisfactory.

2014-2015 Edinburgh Global PhD/Research Scholarships
The 2014 University of Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships are open for applications. The PhD scholarships are designed to attract high quality overseas research students to the University of Edinburgh. 30 Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships will be awarded for session 2014-2015 and full tuition scholarships but do not cover living expenses.

2014 LSE/UCL Frederick Bonnart-B International PhD Scholarship
University College London offers prospective MPhil/PhD students from any country for the 2014/2015 Frederick Bonnart-Braunthal Scholarships aimed at tackling the causes and consequences of intolerance, and are intended for students who plan to explore the nature of religious, racial and cultural prejudices and to find ways of combating them. The value of the award is £25,000 per annum, tenable for years 1, 2 and 3 of an MPhil/PhD programme, subject to annual renewal.

The 2014-2015 Goldsmith University International Postgraduate Scholarship in London, UK, are for research courses at the University, especially PhD study. There is one £5,000 fee waiver scholarship available to a prospective international student applying to study for a full-time postgraduate research programme. It does not cover your total fees or maintenance fees
