The Government of the Czech Republic is offering undergraduate, master’s and PhD scholarships to Ethiopians and South Sudanese for the academic year 2014/2015. The offer has been officially notified to the respective ministries of foreign affairs.
The scholarships are for courses taught in English and the Czech languages. The available scholarships and the language they are taught are outlined below.
B.A., MA/MSc or PhD in the Czech Language
Ethiopia: 4 scholarships; South Sudan 2 scholarships
Follow-up M.A./MSc or PhD in the English Language
Ethiopia: 1 scholarship; South Sudan: 2 scholarships
The scholarship programs are as follows:
Study Programs in the Czech language
- BA (Bachelor’s degree programs): 3-4 years
- MA/MSc (Master’s degree programs): 4-6 years
- PhD (Doctoral degree programs): 3-4 years;
Fields of Study in the Czech language
- Ethiopia – geology, forestry, medicine, economics, agriculture, power engineering, shoemaking
- South Sudan – power engineering, agriculture/food-processing, medicine, economics (trade)
Study Programs in the English language:
- Follow-up MA/MSc(follow-up Master’s degree programs): 1-3 years
- PhD (Doctoral degree programs): 3-4 years;
Field of Study: Ethiopia/South Sudan – agriculture, economics (trade), information technologies
Application Procedure
- Applicants are to submit their applications and upload necessary documents via the online application form
- Applicants successful in the first round will be consequently contacted by the Embassy to participate in the second round of the selection process (sit for entrance test, interview, English language test for students who wish to study in English), as well as to present personal documentation (see Guidelines) including originals of the following personal and educational documents duly authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respected countries:
- Birth certificate
- University Diploma / Temporary Certificate of Graduation or Secondary Education Certificate
- Student Academic Record
- Finally, the Embassy will forward complete nomination files to the Czech Republic. Scholarships will be awarded based on a decision of a joint commission of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, Youth and Sports.
