The competition is designed to appeal to writers everywhere, from the arid outback of Australia to the baking deserts of Africa, the towering skyscrapers of the United States to the humid cities of Asia, the bustling capitals of Europe to the steamy villages of South America.
Each month, they will select a winning story and a highly commended work to receive a cash prize. Winning stories will be posted on our website. At the end of twelve months, each winner will be considered for an annual cash prize.
The monthly Global Short Story Competition is proving a success – and now they have the backing of internationally renowned author Bill Bryson OBE.
Bill, the Chancellor of Durham University, has agreed to support the competition, run by the team here at Certys Limited, because he shares our passion for writing and for the North-East of England, where they are based.
The competition runs every month with £100 for the winner and £25 for the runner-up and is open to writers from across the world.
The competition is also being supported by Darlington Arts Centre.
