Winneba University in Ghana invites applications from qualified undergraduate students to access the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund (VCSF) for brilliant but needy students for 2019/2020 academic year.
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) was established in September 1992 as a University College under PNDC Law 322. On 14th May, 2004 the University of Education Act, Act 672 was enacted to upgrade the status of the University College of Education of Winneba to the status of a full University.
The aims of UEW
- To provide higher education and foster a systematic advancement of the science and the art of teacher education:
- To train tutors for the colleges of education and other tertiary institutions:
- To provide teachers with professional competence for teaching in pre-tertiary institutions such as preschool, basic, senior secondary school and nonformal education institutions: and
- To foster links between the schools and the community in order to ensure the holistic training of teachers.
Worth of Award
The Park Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship that includes living expenses, and books and technology stipend. A limited number of these merit-based scholarships are awarded to outstanding high school seniors each year.
Upon entering the program, Park Scholars are expected to
- stay enrolled as a full-time student with a 3.500 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in one of the undergraduate degree programs at the Roy H. Park School of Communications;
- maintain strong engagement in significant and meaningful community service;
- participate in Park Scholar academic programming and enrichment activities;
- be a model citizen and maintain good judicial standing.
Eligibility
To be eligible to receive the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund (VCSF) award, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Ghanaian as defined by the Constitution of Ghana.
- Be an undergraduate student of UEW.
- Be enrolled on a non-Full fee paying programme at the University.
- Must have strong academic ability and have a financial need. That is, the applicant must produce evidence, with documentation, that he/she has a strong academic potential but is financially handicapped to purse higher education in UEW.
- Submit a completed application Form for the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund award before the announced deadline for the submission of the Form.
- The applicant must not be on a similar scholarship.
- Comply with any other criteria set by the Management Board at the time of the award or disbursement.

- Completed applications should be submitted to the Deans of Faculty or Director, IDeL by the deadline.
- Students on Distance Education programme should submit completed applications to Director of IDeL through their Study Centre Coordinators.
