Undergraduate Scholarships for Refugees and Asylum Seekers at DCU in Ireland 2021

Dublin City University (DCU) in Ireland is offering Campus-based Undergraduate Scholarships available to refugees and asylum seekers based in Ireland in 2021.

Five DCU-based University of Sanctuary scholarships are currently being made available each year to full-time undergraduate students, one provided by each of the five DCU faculties: the Faculty of Science and Health, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, DCU Institute of Education, DCU Business School and the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.

The initial five scholars who began in September 2017 were supported practically through a number of initiatives by Vodafone and eBay, both facilitated by the DCU Educational Trust. There was also significant support from An Garda Síochána, DCU Students’ Union and the DCU branch of the Bank of Ireland.

Worth of Award


Each scholarship consists of:

  • Fee waiver for three / four years of UG programme
  • Public / Private Transportation allowance – (LEAP or Rail Card or bursary)
  • Access Scholarship
  • Meal Plan – 2 tea/coffee and two meals per day

  • All applicants meeting the eligibility requirements are eligible to apply but priority for places will be given to students under 23 and any remaining places allocated to mature students.
  • Applicants under 23 must have or intend to complete the Irish Leaving Certificate or a full FETAC/QQI level 5 qualification.
  • Applications are open to candidates resident in any of the following nine Reception and Integration Agency (RIA) accommodation centres within DCU’s catchment area with direct transportation links

Please note that you must make an academic application to DCU through the CAO as well as filling out a separate scholarship application form.
