George Mason University in the USA is currently offering Scholarships for high performing students in the 2019/20 academic year.
The Scholarship is an online scholarship application for many of the internal scholarships awarded at Mason. There are scholarships for continuing/returning undergraduates, admitted transfers, and graduate students. This includes currently enrolled International, DACA and Non-traditional students (25 and older). The application cycle opens early December and closes late April.
Scholarship awards are based on your academic record as well as your answers to the questions on the application. The application process may vary by college/departments. Students should contact their respective department for further information about the scholarships offered through their program.
Worth of Award
Most scholarship awards are applied to educational expenses and are usually split between the two semesters.
Eligibility
Incoming Freshmen
- Consideration for Mason internal scholarships for incoming freshmen requires no application. Awards are open to deposited students who plan to enrol fall semester.
- Scholarship awards are based on merit and/or financial need. The exact number of scholarships will be determined by the college/departments available funding each year.
- Notification of Mason internal scholarships for incoming freshmen begins mid-June and continues through August.
- Students, selected for the award will receive an official letter via email from the department or award committee.
- Students may view their awards on Patriot Web in the Financial Aid Awards section.
Continuing & Transfer Undergraduate Students
- Admitted to the university
- Must enrol for the upcoming academic year
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
Graduate Students
- Admitted to the university
- Must enrol for the upcoming academic year
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
How to Apply
The Mason Scholarship Application includes both merit-based and financial need-based internal scholarships. Consideration for need-based scholarships requires the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Alternate Needs Assessment Form submitted to the financial aid office no later than January 15.
- To access the online application, students must use their Patriot Pass log in credentials (NetID username and password).
- Some departmental scholarships require resumes (School of Business, Nursing and College of Education) and/or other documents. Please ensure ample time for additional documents to be complete and submitted by the April 30 deadline.
- They recommend typing your essays in a word processing program to take advantage of spell checking and word counting. Once you are done, just copy and paste your text into the application.
Deadline: The deadline to apply is April 30, 2019. Some programs, however, have their own deadlines. Endeavour to apply before the program deadline.
