The University of New England (UNE) in Australia is offering the International Postgraduate Research Award (IPRA) for in the 2020/2021 session.
UNE was formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. The University became fully independent in 1954 and pioneered teaching to external students by correspondence, making UNE Australia’s most experienced provider of distance and now online education.
The UNE International Postgraduate Research Award (UNE IPRA) scholarship is offered to top quality international candidates who wish to enrol in a research degree at UNE.
- UNE IPRA’s are available to outstanding applicants who wish to enrol in a postgraduate research degree at UNE
- These Awards are for commencement of candidature between 1 January 2020 and 31 March 2020.
- The Awards are for a maximum duration of two years for a Research Masters degree or three years for a Doctoral degree
- Applications are assessed on academic merit and research potential
Worth of Award
- The UNE IPRA provides a stipend of $28,092 AUD per annum, course tuition fees and single Standard Overseas Health Insurance
Eligibility
- As with all universities, there are rules around qualifying for entry to UNE, however, always contact the University for advice if you are unsure.
- There are two main requirements for admission to UNE. The first is academic requirements: what you have already studied and the results you needed to qualify for entry to the UNE degree you intend to study.
- The second is English Language requirements. There are a number of ways you can satisfy us that your English is good enough to study at UNE, including sitting the IELTS exam or studying at their English Language Centre before you commence your studies.
- To be able to go to UNE, you will also need a Student Visa and Overseas Student Health Cover.
- There are some other restrictions and requirements that only apply to certain situations or certain courses.

Supervisor Statement of Support
- All applicants must submit a Statement of Support from their Principal Supervisor. The University will not request reports on your behalf.
- This statement should be no more than 500 words and should outline alignment of the applicant’s research proposal with the School research priorities and provide a clear indication of the level of support of the student’s project.
- There is no specific form for the statement of support and it can be submitted direct to Research Services by the supervisor via email to [email protected] or it may be supplied by the Supervisor to the student for attachment to this application
Referee Reports
- All applicants must provide two referee reports. The University will not request reports on your behalf.
- Referees must be qualified to speak with knowledge about your work during the qualification most relevant to this application and on your capacity for research. If you are also basing this application on relevant work experience/training, at least one of your referees must be able to comment on your relevant experience.
- You must also provide contact details of your referees on the application form and ask them to submit their written reports directly to the University on the Referee’s Report Form.
