The Faculty of Theology and Religion the University of Oxford, UK welcomes interest from suitably qualified applicants in this year’s Marie Curie International Fellowships scheme, for awards to be taken up in Autumn 2019. The scheme is designed for researchers “looking to enhance their career development and prospects by working abroad”.

Worth of Award
The individual European fellowships may last between one to two years, and they provide an allowance to cover your living, travel, and family costs.


  • These fellowships are open to researchers with a PhD or with at least four years’ full-time research experience by the time of the call deadline.
  • To be eligible for holding one of these fellowships at Oxford you should not have not have lived or worked in UK for more than 12 months during the three years up to the closing date of the call.

How to Apply
The next call for applications closes on 12 September 2018; for them to consider, process, and support applications, they ask you to submit the following to [email protected] by 12 noon, Tuesday 31st July 2018.
1)      A statement of eligibility (i.e. a free text justification of research experience and meeting of residency criteria)
2)      The name of your Faculty mentor. Ask your mentor to write a reference for the Faculty, confirming that they would be happy to act in this role.
3)     A detailed CV
4)     A proposal of no more than 2 pages outlining the following:

  • Introduction, state-of-the-art/research context, specific objectives and overview of the proposed project.
  • Research methodology and approach: highlight the type of research/innovation activities proposed.
  • Originality and innovative aspects of the research programme: explain the contribution that the action is expected to make to advancements in the action field. Describe any novel concepts, approaches or methods that will be implemented.
  • Interdisciplinary aspects (if relevant).
