Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Science in Poland invites applications for a PhD Scholarship for students with Master degree in one of the following disciplines: biophysics, physics, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry or related (e.g. biotechnology) obtained no later than June 30, 2018.

The PhD student will participate in the NCN Sonata-Bis project “Studies of interactions
and dynamics of intrinsically disordered proteins in crucial biological processes –
biophysical perspective including single molecule approach”. The project is focused on
investigation the interactions of the natively unstructured coral acid-rich proteins that
bind calcium in the skeletal organic matrix, on the molecular level.
Since intrinsically disordered proteins can adopt a wide spectrum of conformations, they
comprise an important group of “molecular switches”, where the partial or total lack of
the defined structure plays a crucial role due to the possibility of a flexible fit to the
interacting protein partner or ligand.
