De Montfort University’s School of Media and Communication invites applications for a PhD research bursary in any aspect of the study of gender and news for the academic session starting in October 2012.
Possible topics might include examining representations of men or women in the news (national, local, or international); the role of gender in the production of news; a feminist political economic analysis of the news; gendered news consumption patterns; new media transformations and its relationship with gender; or the gendered nature of news.
The successful candidate will work with Dr. Kaitlynn Mendes, Senior Lecturer in Journalism, and other members of the School of Media and Communication, and will be expected to teach 6 hours per week on various theoretical courses in journalism studies.
Worth of Scholarships: £5,000pa for up to three years full-time study starting
