Cardiff University invites applications for a PhD studentship in Chemical Biology awarded to students of any nationality.
Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a minimum of an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or European equivalent and a Masters in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline. Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent)
Study Subject: Studentship is tenable in Chemical Biology: ‘Manufacturing novel artificial enzymes.
Worth of Award: This studentship consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum (£14,057 p.a. for 2015/16, updated each year).
Residency: This studentship is open to students of any nationality. Students classified as international for fee purposes have to self-fund the difference between home and international fees.
Academic criteria: Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a minimum of an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or European equivalent and a Masters in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline.
-The successful candidate will also have a strong background in biochemistry and organic chemistry. First-hand experience in a relevant area of chemistry such as enzymology and synthetic chemistry is highly desirable.
