University of Sydney invites applications from candidates who are eligible to undertake PhD research at the University of Sydney. Up to 11 new Postgraduate Research Scholarships will be offered under this Scheme in 2016. Applicants will be citizens of the People’s Republic of China, not be currently working or studying in Australia at the time of application and will be eligible to enter a PhD programme without further preparatory study. Preference will be given to applicants working in areas of study that meet Chinese and Australian National research priorities.
Worth of Award
The University of Sydney – China Scholarship Council Postgraduate Research Scholarship provides award holders with the following benefits:

  • a living allowance as prescribed from time to time by the Chinese Government;
  • a faculty tuition fee scholarship to cover tuition fees;
  • a minimum cost international airfare direct from China to Sydney, and return on expiry of the scholarship;
  • the cost of the visa application fee to permit study at the University of Sydney; and
  • the cost of Overseas Student Health Cover while a recipient of the scholarship.
  • The faculty tuition fee scholarship is provided by the University of Sydney, and is at the discretion of the relevant faculty or school. Candidates should note that the Sydney Medical School is not currently offering tuition fee scholarships under this scheme.
  • All other benefits are provided by the China Scholarship Council.
  • Applicants should note that the scholarship does not cover compulsory subscription fees, Student Services and Amenities (SSA) fees, student union/association membership/activity fees, or any other costs other than those specifically outlined above.
